Research Interests

Dr. Medici’s research interests include the effects of copper accumulation in the liver, as occurs in Wilson disease, on hepatic methionine metabolism, the regulation of gene expression by methylation, and consequent interactions with pathways of liver injury in particular lipogenesis and steatosis. She works with mouse models of altered copper metabolism and is site PI for industry funded clinical trials on gene therapy for Wilson disease. She collaborates on human studies on metabolic dysfunction-associated steatotic liver disease (MASLD).
